About the Artist

donataszafian

Donata Szafian is a classically trained figurative artist. Her formal art education took place in Hungary. She earned her BFA in Sculpture from Janus Pannonius University, a BA in Industrial Design and an MA in Jewellery Design, both from the Hungarian University of Applied Arts in Budapest. Her background in both fine art and design gives Donata a practical, problem-solving mindset, a thorough understanding of anatomy, and strong skills in drawing, painting, and sculpting.

Donata taught drawing, painting, and sculpting at Algonquin College for 15 years, but now teaches privately and mainly works on commissioned pieces. Her constant drive to learn and elevate her artwork took her to New York to study under the guidance of Nelson Shanks, Lea Colie Wight, Stephen Early, and Dan Thompson. In Florence, she was fortunate to study with the Maestro Michael John Angel at the Angel Academy.
